Our Mission
At HPAT, our mission is to empower and uplift the Hispanic community in Tyler by uniting like-minded professionals through opportunities for networking, cultural enrichment, volunteerism, leadership development, and civic engagement. We are committed to fostering educational advancement and active community involvement that inspires meaningful progress and builds a stronger, more inclusive tomorrow.
Our History
HPAT was created in 2016 by a diverse group of professionals in the Tyler area. As a non-profit, HPAT creates opportunities to give back to the community, fosters relationships with young leaders, provide cultural experiences, and hosts the East Texas Leadership Summit.
The East Texas Leadership Summit came to fruition in 2018. The Summit allows local leaders and community members to network, learn, and grow. The vast amount of local leadership we are surrounded with fosters endless opportunities to improve our community through events like the Summit. We look forward to continuing to host this Summit annually.
In 2019, HPAT presented the Hispanic Heritage Knowledge Bowl. Schools from around the community competed to test their knowledge about Hispanic Heritage. HPAT also collaborated with the East Texas Symphony during Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate with music. In 2020, Dia De Los Muertos was highlighted by an art show that featured work from area high school students. Students submitted artwork, and guests were able to view the artwork and vote for their favorite piece by grade. The winners from each grade were presented with prizes including school supplies and gift cards donated by local businesses. Cultural events continue to be a fun way to bring the community together.
